National Young Mathematicians’ Awards

Congratulations to our Year 6 team for making it through to Round 2 of The National Young Mathematicians’ Awards Competition. They will be competing against schools throughout the country in Round 2, on 5th December, in order to secure one of the five places in the Grand Final at the University of Cambridge.

On Wednesday 14th November, four of our talented Mathematicians represented Wembley Primary School and Year 6 in the National Young Mathematicians’ Awards Round 1 at the Explore Learning Centre in Wembley.

They had the unique opportunity to tackle a never-before-seen mathematical problem. The team were marked on their team work, mathematical thinking and systematic recording skills. The children worked incredibly well and the Centre Director, gave the following feedback:

“They did an excellent job of delegating roles and parts of the challenge amongst all team members, which helped them to move methodically through the different parts of the task and allowed them to achieve almost full marks on the teamwork section of the marking criteria.

We wish them all the best for Round 2 and we are sure they will make Wembley Primary proud!

All the best!
